- What is our organization?
- Nihon Choutei Kyoukai Rengoukai (Japan Federation of Judiciary Conciliation Associations) is an organization managed by regional Conciliation Associations. It comprises conciliators who belong to district courts, family courts, and other courts nationwide. It was established on April 8, 1952 as a private organization and became a corporation on June 15, 1955. It has an office in the Supreme Court (4-2 Hayabusa-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).
- What kind of people are conciliators?
- Domestic relations conciliation commissioners are selected from among citizens of great
insight and good character, who have rich knowledge and experience in social life or expert
knowledge and experience useful for resolving domestic relations disputes. As members of a
conciliation committee, they are responsible for achieving voluntary resolution of domestic relations cases by encouraging the parties to make mutual concession or compromise or by making coordination so that an agreement will be reached between the parties according to the law based on a resolution proposed by the conciliation committee.
